Here’s what you can expect when you order a handcrafted, custom piece from CK12:
- First, a consultation with the client to understand the needs and wants for their custom piece as well as any design input or creative direction from the client. Here is where the client chooses how much they want to participate in the creative process. It is a highly individual component that is differs with every client. Some clients want to choose the wood, colors, metal, varnish etc , while others just pick the style they want and leave the rest up to the designer/craftsman. Whatever the client has envisioned, this is where it’s spoken into existence.
- Next is the design process where the client will be presented with sketches of their custom piece. Design software or furniture designing applications can also be utilized during this phase of the process. This is where the ‘’vision’ takes shape and the options for materials are further discussed. Once the client approves the 2D designs a work order will be initiated to begin the next phase of the process.
- The construction process requires attention to every detail. This is where the magic happens! The envisioned piece takes shape. No longer on paper or a screen, but the real, 3D form of the client’s custom piece. This phase of the journey involves sourcing of material, fabrication of the piece or pieces, sanding and finishing. This is typically the phase that takes the longest. Typically expect 4-10 weeks for this phase*. Mantels usually take 7-14 days.
- The final step in the process is welcoming your handcrafted masterpiece into your home. Upon final inspection and final payment, your custom piece can be set for delivery or pick-up.
